About Zaharaddeen K. Mohammad
Mr. Zaharadeen is a professionally trained vector biologist with a strong passion for combating mosquito-borne diseases. Before joining CTIDR, he contributed to several international projects, through Gombe State University, including the Global Fund Anopheles Insecticide Resistance Monitoring Program, WHO/NIMR routine mosquito surveillance, and AnoSTEP Afrika, a multinational initiative investigating the drivers of Anopheles stephensi invasion across Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Nigeria.
His research experience spans rural, peri-urban, and urban insecticide-resistance surveillance, Aedes oviposition preference studies, and mosquito population monitoring. He has developed extensive expertise in adult and larval mosquito collection, oviposition assays, CDC bioassays, WHO susceptibility and resistance testing, and morphological identification of mosquitoes. At the CTIDR, he is interested in understanding how temperature and humidity influence mosquito survival, reproduction, and population dynamics. He is partly employed by the Medical Research Foundation, Impact of Climate Change on Health grant to Prof. Ibrahim.
