Agricultural Pest Biology

APB

The Agricultural Pest Biology Cluster contributes to the fight against food insecurity using primary and translational research approaches, with focus on field- (e.g., fall armyworm, stem borers, white flies, etc) and stored products pests (beetles, weevils, etc). We study the ecological characteristics of these pests, their pesticide resistance profiles, and its underlying molecular mechanisms using combinations of susceptibility bioassays, genomics, transcriptomics and functional genomics, providing relevant information for management and control.

We work closely with stakeholders to develop ecologically safe and sustainable pest control methods that minimize environmental impact while maximizing crop protection.
