Our Mission
We aim to improve human health and wellbeing by contributing to the fight against tropical and infectious diseases, through biomedical research, and training and capacity strengthening of our partners. We explore entomology, acarology, snakebite envenoming and their climate-driven dynamics using genomic technologies, functional genomics and informatics.
We aim to generate relevant data for evidence-based control and management of diseases following the below scientific activities/objectives.
Conduct entomological research on the major mosquito vectors, including Anopheles, Aedes, and Culex, and other vectors, such as ticks, blackflies, sandflies, etc, including their ecological drivers, their role in transmission of pathogens and how they can be controlled. This extends to providing technical assistance and supporting stakeholders and control programs on vector monitoring and surveillance.
Conduct interdisciplinary research on the epidemiology, ecological drivers, and management of snakebite envenoming in Nigeria, to support evidence-based interventions in low-resource settings.
Work closely and disseminate findings to policy and decision makers in Nigeria and internationally for maximum impact towards reducing burden of diseases.
Promote One-Health approach through research on agricultural insect pests in Nigeria, and how they can be targeted for control, enhancing food security.
Discover passionate and motivated scientists/researchers and provide them with state-of-the-art research facilities, training and mentorship, nurturing them into independence.
