Who We Are
An independent, not-for-profit research centre dedicated to advancing health and wellbeing
The Centrum for Tropical and Infectious Diseases Research (CTIDR), created in 2025 and domiciled in Kano, Nigeria, is an independent, not-for-profit research centre dedicated to advancing health and wellbeing in Nigeria, sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. CTIDR is a non-certificate-awarding institution whose primary mandate is to conduct high-quality scientific research and generate evidence to inform policy and practice in the control of tropical and infectious diseases.
We work closely with policy- and decision-makers, including the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (Nigeria), as well as universities and other research institutes in Nigeria and internationally, to ensure that our research translates into practical solutions for fighting public health challenges.
Our major collaborators include the Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases (Cameroon), the Imperial College London (UK), the National Malaria Elimination Program (Nigeria), the National Arbovirus and Vectors Research Centre (Nigeria), and Université André Salifou, Zinder (Niger Republic), among others.
