What We Do

The CTIDR conducts high-quality, primary and translational biomedical research, with a particular focus on vector-borne, and other neglected and emerging tropical and infectious diseases. We achieve this using cutting edge research facilities we have created with support from our funders, including the Wellcome Trust (UK) and Medical Research Foundation (UK).

We focus primarily on five thematic research clusters:

We utilise state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to advance our understanding about disease pathogens and their vectors, the role of agricultural pests in food security, the scourge of snake bite, and how it can be controlled, and above all the overall impact of the fast changing climate on health and wellbeing.

We work closely with stakeholder communities and engage proactively with the public to reduce the burden of diseases.

We discover passionate scientists/researchers (through collaboration with universities and other certificate awarding institutions) and provide them with state-of-the-art facilities and mentorship to conduct their research, nurturing them into independence.
